Rumblings is an independent Android application. Questions about this policy or about your data: privacy@rumblings.app.
Data the app accesses and stores
Rumblings stores the following in its own private storage on your device. There is no account and no sign-in, and no copy is stored on a server operated by the developer.
- Bowel-movement entries: date and time, Bristol type, colour, warning signs, and your notes.
- Logged events: drinks, supplements, medications, symptoms, foods and context tags.
- Data imported from Health Connect, listed below.
- Daily aggregates and analysis results derived from the above.
- Your app settings.
Camera. With your permission the app can photograph an entry so that it can be characterised. The photograph is processed and then released; it is not written to your device's storage or gallery, and only the resulting values — Bristol type, colour, warning signs — are stored.
Health Connect. Access is granted by you through the Android system dialog and can be revoked at any time in Health Connect or in Android's settings. The app reads nutrition and hydration, and — only when you switch each one on — sleep, exercise and steps, and menstruation. It also uses past-data and background-read access so that it can import enough history for the analysis to be meaningful and keep it current. It writes back only hydration, from drinks you log in the app.
How the data is used
All of it is used for one purpose: to show you your own records and to compute statistical associations between them — for example between something you ate and a later entry — together with the app's warning flags and the single-subject experiments you choose to run. The optional Health Connect signals are used as additional factors in that same analysis. The analysis runs on your device.
Data shared with others
The app sends data over the network only to a third-party cloud AI provider acting on its behalf, and only for these purposes:
- the photograph you are analysing, so that it can be characterised;
- if you enable it, meal names from Health Connect, so that they can be categorised;
- if you enable it, summary statistics and identifiers for the app's own findings, so that those findings can be described in words. This does not include your notes or raw entries.
Your health data is not sold or rented, is not transferred to third parties for their own purposes, and is not used for advertising or advertising profiles. Providers acting on the app's behalf may change. Information may be disclosed where required by applicable law or legal process.
Retention and deletion
Data remains on your device until you remove it. Any entry or logged event can be deleted inside the app, which also removes it from every calculation that used it. Uninstalling Rumblings destroys its database; you can also clear it in Android's Settings under Apps, Rumblings, Storage. The developer retains no copy to delete.
Hydration the app wrote into Health Connect belongs to Health Connect: delete it there, where you can also revoke the app's access to any data type.
Security
Data is held in the app's private storage, which Android isolates from other applications, and network requests use encrypted connections (TLS). No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and security cannot be guaranteed.
Children
Rumblings is not directed at children and should not be used by anyone under 13, or under the age of consent in their jurisdiction if that is higher.
Changes
This policy may be updated as the application changes; revisions are published here with a new date above.
